Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s Ella Ding is copping flack for claiming that “mindfulness” can cure “terminal illness” such as cancer in a recent episode of her Sit With Us podcast.
The 29-year-old hasn’t been shy about her belief in the power of manifestation. However, fans are concerned she and co-host Domenica Calarco have spread “dangerous” sentiments on their platform.
In the Sit With Us episode — titled “Practising Gratitude” — that dropped on July 5, Ella claimed that “your mind can kill you”.

“It can make you sick,” Ella said. “If you’re sick in whatever way it may be, whether it’s with illness, if you have cancer, or if you have depression, you can literally make yourself sicker by focussing on how sick you are.
“You can then end up terminally ill.”
She then referred to Dr Joe Dispenza, a chiropractic doctor and well-known lecturer on neuroscience and quantum physics.
“If you are unwell, whether it be terminal or not, read Dr Joe Dispenza’s book, How To Rewire Your Brain [sic],” Ella noted, before alleging he has “hundreds of case studies of people who were sick with cancer”.
“He literally trained them to just imagine not being sick, imagine the cancer is leaving your body, imagine the cells are going away… He’s literally cured patients without chemotherapy.”
The MAFS star then claimed one of her best friend’s mothers travelled to Mexico and did a “four-month cleanse that actually did get rid of her breast cancer with no chemo”.
Sit With Us podcast listeners raise concerns about Ella Ding’s ‘dangerous’ comments
Sliding into our DMs, a concerned listener said they were appalled at the information that was shared on the Sit With Us podcast.
“I cannot express how incredibly dangerous this information is,” they said. “I work in the medical field and my jaw was on the floor [listening to it].
“How did their producer let that go to air?”
The reviews on the podcast’s Apple Podcast page revealed other listeners felt the same.
“I really like listening to Ella and Dom, but they need to be aware of giving medical advice and making health claims which could potentially be dangerous,” one person wrote. “Especially when people may be influenced by their opinions in making choices of their medical care.
“Parts of today’s episode were concerning regarding health information.”

Another listener penned: “Incredibly dangerous to be talking about terminal cancer being beaten by mindfulness and cleanses.
“No cases [cited], nothing to back up these claims.”
They continued: “You have a huge platform and you are potentially influencing people when they’re making medical decisions. This absolutely should not have been published.”

A third wrote that they had unfollowed the podcast and advised them to “quit giving advice on things you don’t have skills or knowledge in”, adding: “It’s dangerous”.

Listeners previously called out poor medical commentary on Sit With Us
Another review pointed out that Sit With Us often discusses “triggering” sentiments pertaining to “eating disorders”.
“Content warning for anyone with ED issues,” they wrote. “This pod has talked a LOT about guilt around food, food restriction, weight and dieting.”
The user went on to warn that Ella and Domenica’s interview with I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Geordie Shore star Nathan Henry was particularly concerning.
“[They] spend a fair amount of time congratulating him on the weight he lost when in the jungle when he wasn’t even overweight to begin with,” they said.
“Just very triggering and irresponsible, especially cos [sic] the main demo for this pod is like 18-year-olds.”
