Married at First Sight Australia 2022 power duo Ella Ding and Domenica Calarco‘s Sit With Us podcast has switched networks after their Acast deal wasn’t renewed.
Ella and Domenica announced they were releasing a podcast fresh off the back of MAFS 2022, and quickly found themselves amid a bidding war with all major podcast networks.
This included Apple and Spotify before ultimately landing on Acast, who reportedly offered the duo a whopping $250,000.
According to Yahoo! Lifestyle, the deal required the TV brides to produce one episode per week. They were also tasked with hitting a certain amount of listens in order to earn the eye-watering pay.
Now, the publication reports that the pair have parted ways with Acast, with their contract not being renewed.
The network has already removed Sit With Us from their website, with Ella and Domenica’s profile returning a “404 Not Found” error code.
What network will produce Sit With Us going forward?
Ella and Domenica have since signed a collaboration deal with Southern Cross Austereo’s LiSTNR network and independent network DM Podcasts.
“A podcast changing network isn’t that surprising, but to walk away from a company that previously put up a quarter of a million for a debut suggests that kind of money wasn’t on the table for them to renew,” one insider told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“Sit With Us is successful and consistent, but overall it didn’t perform as well as Acast initially hoped when compared to the likes of Life Uncut and It’s A Lot.“
Another source added that podcast networks are being “more sceptical and realistic” when it comes to offering deals to MAFS stars.
This includes Ollie Skelton, who recently saddled himself to Acast with his Tosser podcast. Plus, Evelyn Ellis who signed with DM Podcasts to oversee her Bad Grades pod.
