FBoy Island‘s Abbie Chatfield has slammed media outlets for the “misogynistic question” she’s repeatedly asked about her new hosting role.

On June 7, the reality star posted a series of Tweets to expose a question that has repeatedly been put to her in interviews both “privately and in press.”

“It’s pretty hard to offend me personally in an interview, but there’s a pretty cooked and misogynistic question I keep being asked about my role as host of #FboyIslandAu both privately and in press and I want to address it,” she started.

“That question is: ‘Were you keen on/did you want to f*ck any of the contestants?’

“‘Were you tempted?’ ‘Did you use the show as your own way to meet guys?'”

Ugh, aren’t we past this idea of women always being “tempted” by men? C’mon, guys, it’s 2023…

As if clarification was needed, Abbie confirmed the “answer clearly is ‘no'”.

“As the host of a reality TV format, I would presume that’s obvious,” she stated,

“It is my job to host the show. No part of me enters that arena expecting a romantic connection.

“I am there to work, to control what’s happening on set and to gain the trust of the contestants and try to make them comfortable, as I have been a contestant myself.

“Potential love interests isn’t even a thought that crosses my mind for a moment,” the 27-year-old added.

Abbie Chatfield speaks out about the power imbalance between herself and the contestants

The Masked Singer judge also shed light on the “power imbalance” that existed between her and the contestants, which she says she’d “never breach or take advantage of”.

She continued: “Not only is the notion of this highly inappropriate, it’s offensive to my level of professionalism and dedication to the role.” And we couldn’t agree more!

The podcast host then expressed that being a “young woman who speaks openly about sex” didn’t mean that she was “always on the lookout for her next f*ck.” And TBH, the fact that this even needs to be explained says a LOT about today’s society…

Abbie says other hosts aren’t asked if they’re ‘tempted’ by their contestants

The outspoken media personality also addressed the fact that she’d never heard “any other hosts be asked [these questions]”.

Osher Günsberg was never asked if he’s been ‘tempted’ by contestants, even before he was married,” she pointed out.

She then shared that these “cooked” questions put her in an “incredibly uncomfortable position.”

“[When answering these questions], I either imply that the contestants are undateable as a whole, insulting a group of 24 virtual strangers and also undermining the premise of the show,” she stated.

“Or, I start a conversation about the misogyny attached to that question. Which in a five-minute interview in a line up of 10 that day, I simply don’t have the time or energy for.

“So, I’m making it clear now. I was not and will never be so unprofessional to have even an iota of a thought that contestants on a dating show are anything close to a romantic interest. Please. Stop. Asking.” Well said, queen!
