The Amazing Race Australia is returning to screens in 2023 and it’s about to get a massive shake-up with a huge celebrity twist.

Yep, that’s right, the upcoming season won’t see ordinary people take part. Actual celebrities will be getting involved in the bonkers challenges while backpacking to the most stunning locations across the world.

The term celebrity and budget travel are not synonymous so we’re really keen to see how this all works out.

Beloved NRL star turned The Amazing Race Australia host Beau Ryan made the exciting announcement on Instagram alongside a bunch of pics of himself at some of the scenic destinations the show has taken him.

“The Amazing Race Australia is back!” Beau wrote.

“Amazing Race Australia CELEBRITY EDITION is coming soon to Channel 10. Which celebrities do you wanna see compete???”

Which celebrities are competing in The Amazing Race Australia Celebrity Edition?

There’s no official word on who has been cast but after the announcement the show is set to return this year, Beau’s post was flooded with comments including from celebrities who want to volunteer themselves as tribute.

“I think I would be a perfect candidate @therealbeauryan,” PR maven Roxy Jacenko wrote.

“I mean look I’m free,” added comedian and drag queen Carla From Bankstown.

Channel Ten entertainment reporter Angela Bishop piped up with “This is BIG” before Beau replied, “You keen Ang?” Maybe Dreamboat Beau is in charge of casting as well as hosting?

What else do we know about The Amazing Race Australia Celebrity Edition?

Beau‘s post said the show was “coming soon” but at this stage, there’s not a whole lot of other clues.

The Amazing Race Australia‘s socials haven’t been updated either.

However, Channel Ten has said Celebrity Edition “will be no ordinary challenge” and the celebs will have a “race partner”.

“Our celebrities and their race partner will be met at the starting line by our larrikin host Beau Ryan, who will be sure to throw twists and turns their way as they race across the globe,” a teaser of the new season read.

“From culture shock, meagre budgets and the pressure of a non-stop race, our star racers will be tested in ways we’ve never seen before.”
