Harry Garside is being sued by his own management after they launched a legal battle against the boxer and Channel 10 for comments he made during an episode of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here Australia 2023.

If spending weeks in the South African jungle with all sorts of creepy crawlies and horrible eating challenges weren’t hard enough, the Olympic boxer is quite possibly facing the most difficult fight of his career.

During his stint on the show, the 25-year-old made a frank admission about the uncertainty of his future.

The comments were not taken lightly and now NewsCorp is reporting Harry’s manager, Peter Mitervski, has deemed the remarks “offensive and inaccurate” and is launching legal action.

Harry narrowly missed out on being crowned the winner of I’m A Celebrity during the finale on April 30.

But in an earlier episode, the lightweight opened up to AFL player Adam Cooney about the struggles of being an athlete.

“I hated turning professional, just people around me who wanted me because I was a potential cash cow,” Harry told the 2008 Brownlow medallist.

“They didn’t want my best interests.

“It’s so dirty and I really didn’t like it.

“I hate knowing there are people around me who didn’t particularly care about my wellbeing, they cared about the 10 per cent. It was really frustrating.”

The comments landed Harry in hot wanted and he’s reportedly being sued for alleged defamation and breach of contract.

Why is Harry Gardise considering stepping away from boxing?

Harry was tipped to be the next big thing – heck, even a future world champion.

He has a bronze medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and a Commonwealth gold medal under his belt.

Harry wanted to be the best boxer Australia has produced. Lucrative sponsorship deals were being thrown at him, and his manager secured one of the best trainers, Johnny Lewis.

Basically, everything was going really well for him.

But Harry has not fought since May last year when he suffered a hand injury.

In an interview before entering the jungle, he admitted he was weighing up “walking away from boxing altogether”.

“There is professional boxing, set myself up for life, win a world title and make a lot of money,’ he told The Daily Telegraph.

“Australia has never won an Olympic gold medal and I’d love to be the first.

“And then also as well, potentially walking away from boxing altogether and starting a family or putting my mind towards a business or something else.”

Is Harry Garside’s trainer suing him because of a vendetta against I’m A Celebrity?

Harry also turned down the opportunity to headline a Foxtel Main Event boxing bout to appear on I’m A Celebrity.

The Daily Telegraph believes the move prompted Harry’s trainer to drop him. And it sounds like the legendary trainer has a bit of resentment towards the reality TV show.

No doubt the former ballet-dancing plumber had a lot of spare time in the jungle to contemplate his career. Even if he does want to go back to professional boxing, he can just jump back in the ring.

He’s been borderline starved and without the sort of rigorous training program someone of his athletic prowess would be used to. So he just wouldn’t be in the same condition he once was.
