Sources have revealed that Domenica Calarco‘s divorce from her first marriage was far messier than she let on during her stint on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia 2023.
When she first appeared on Married at First Sight in 2022, Domenica revealed she pulled the plug on her marriage with her partner of four years, Luke Rodley, after just two months.
Then during her latest reality TV endeavour, she told her co-stars the marriage was “a sh*t thing to do and a waste of money”.
On I’m a Celebrity, she revealed part of the reason her marriage to the Studio Ten producer quickly broke down was because she “wasn’t herself”.
“I thought it was the right thing at the time because of how I was brought up: ‘This is what I need to do at this time of my life’ and ‘This is what everyone’s doing’. But I knew deep down I wasn’t happy,” Domenica explained.
However, as revealed in episode 281 of the So Dramatic! podcast, there is more to the relationship going bust.
One source close to the couple told host Megan Pustetto that it wasn’t Domenica who ended the relationship, but Luke.
“The part about the relationship breaking down quickly is very true,” they admitted. “It broke down quickly because Luke walked in on Dom cheating on him in their home. A home that he owned.”
The source went on to say that following this, Luke gave his wife a second chance. However, just weeks later, he caught her cheating on him again.
“That’s when he decided to end things for good.”
What happened when Domenica Calarco’s ‘messy’ divorce ensued?
The source added that the divorce proved “messy” because Luke was the sole owner of the couple’s home.
“He kicked Dom out because she was in the wrong and had no bargaining power in the situation,” they explained.
“So that’s why she pretty much had nothing and was struggling with money, which is why she was so desperate for money and went on OnlyFans.”
While a “messy battle over assets” unfolded, the insider said, “Dom ended up getting a pretty sweet deal considering what had gone down”.
“Luke owned the house himself but because they had been together for so long he had to pay her a substantial amount of money to buy her out, given she was legally his wife and entitled to half of everything,” they explained.
“Luke was left heartbroken and it was an extremely hard time for him.”
They concluded: “He’d just had his dream wedding with his dream girl and it was absolutely shattering for him.”
