The 46-year-old announced her departure from the top rating show in March 2021 before taking over as FWAW host from Natalie Gruzlewski this year.

Samantha Armytage reveals the biggest regrets of her career

During her eight years on the air with her Sunrise co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch, Samantha became the target of tabloids and online trolls.

Speaking to TV Week, Samantha revealed she “put up with a lot of crap” during her two-decade-long career and has “regrets”.

”There were times in my career when I put up with a lot of crap,” she told the publication.

”I also have several regrets about [moments] when I didn’t stick up for myself. I’ve had time away now from that spotlight and I regret not standing up for myself more.”

”It was a huge risk, absolutely – and I did worry about that,” she said of her decision to leave.

”But I knew at that time that I had to make big changes for my own happiness and sanity.”

Samantha Armytage reveals why she left Sunrise

In March 2021 the newlywed announced her shock departure from Sunrise.

At the time, Samantha, who married her partner Richard Lavender just months prior, said she wanted to “step out of this public world for a while and take some time and calm things down”.

A few weeks later during her emotional goodbye from Sunrise, Samantha took a swipe at “bullies in the media”, saying she “never fully understood some of the scrutiny and the snarky comments”.

Speaking on her podcast Something to Talk About with Samantha Armytage, in June 2021, she said there were “many, many reasons” she quit.

However, she added: “Everything I said was analysed and I was getting belted to death by the bloody Daily Mail and you just think: ‘Oh, is life worth this?’.”

FWAW has seen some pretty impressive ratings during its premiere week but some fans weren’t happy to see Samantha fronting the show, leaving beloved Natalie with the scraps.
