Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Dan Hunjas was not only scouted for the marriage experiment but copped a pretty sweet contract deal too.
So, if you thought Dan was on the show for ~gEnUiNe ReAsOns~, think again, because have we got some piping hot tea for you!
As reported in episode 257 of the So Dramatic! podcast, MAFS producers were desperate AF for grooms, which is why they approached the father-of-one.
“So Dan didn’t apply for MAFS, they scouted him,” a source explained, adding he was specifically “found for Sandy [Jawanda]“.
Apparently, Danny boi is mates with the show’s producers and “that’s how he was headhunted”. Talk about having friends in high places!
The insider went on to reveal that the 42-year-old knocked back the offer at first. However, he eventually agreed and could “negotiate really good terms in his contract” because the MAFS team were “desperate” for someone.
While they didn’t dish on what those “good terms” are, it’s safe to assume whatever deal he made with the Devil is a hell of a lot better than what the rest of the cast copped.

The insider also spilled a f*ck-ton of tea about Sandy’s involvement in Dan’s recruitment to the show.
In fact, the Indian bride knew all about her future hubby several days prior to their TV nuptials.
“Sandy found out a few days before her wedding who she was marrying AND about his daughter,” they said.
In case you haven’t been glued to the TV: one of Sandy’s dealbreakers was shacking up with a fella who already had kids.
However, she opted to go ahead with Dan because “no respectable man with a 16-year-old would go on national TV and be a d*ckhead”.
Well, you wouldn’t expect a respectable man to go on MAFS full stop, yet here we are…
Josh White also had a unique contract for Married at First Sight 2023
Dan wasn’t the only groom who had a tailored contract for the duration of his time on MAFS 2023: Josh White did too.
As reported in episode 258 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one insider explained that Josh was going through a “messy divorce” while in the experiment. So much so that he was permitted a different contract than his co-stars!
According to the source, the father-of-two‘s contract allowed him to “go home at any time”.
“That’s also why he was granted permission to leave [by John Aiken], despite it being against the rules,” they explained.
As such, his TV wife Melissa Sheppard “only spent four weekends with him the entire time”.
