The Block Australia 2022’s Tom Calleja and Sarah-Jane Wilson have revealed they lost an eye-watering amount of money after their appearance on the hit reality series.
ICYMI: The couple were dealt a massive blow during the November 6 finale. They took home a low AF profit of just $20,000 — despite being pegged the favourites to take out the win.
The couple has now shared that they copped a whopping $100,000 loss due to bills, personal expenses and the cost of daycare for their one-year-old daughter Cleo while they filmed the show.
Despite receiving a daily $200 stipend from Nine, Sarah-Jane explained that it only just covered the $120-a-day cost of daycare, with little left to cover bills and mortgage payments.
“[After childcare], we were left with $80 combined to cover all of our bills at home,” the 30-year-old explained.
“Our rates, mortgages, utilities, pay for food for ourselves the whole time, feed and clothes for our daughter, just everything.”
The Melbourne mum added she has “no regrets” in signing up as the “experience itself was so worth it.”
However, she admitted they’ve had to dip into their savings, saying, “That is how you end up in the red!”

Luckily, the reality stars were able to recoup some of their losses by selling the $80,000 Ford Ranger they won during Landscape week.
“Honestly, Ford Australia saved us financially and we are so grateful they gave such a generous prize to the show that we were then able to win!” Sarah-Jane said.
“Our plan was always to keep it but we needed to reimburse our lost money from going on the show.”
