Love Island Australia 2022‘s Maddy Gillbanks and Andre Coutinho were rumoured to have recoupled IRL after they were spotted holding hands in Perth last weekend.
However, speaking exclusively to So Dramatic! after her eviction, the 26-year-old HR advisor confirmed she’s very much still single and definitely not dating Andre. *sigh*
“That is so false! I don’t understand where these rumours came from,” she responded before admitting the pair DID however meet up.
“Okay, so yes, we went out and had a Sunday sesh. But we were not together. We weren’t holding hands. But we did jump into my car to go and get some Hungry Jacks at the end of the night but I drove him back so he could get his car and then we went home our separate ways.
“We did speak to a lot of people so I think that obviously, somebody’s just gotten the wrong idea, or is just being a bit of a Callum [Hole] and stirring the pot.” LOL!
She continued: “But yeah, no, we’re not together. I mean, he’s a lovely guy, don’t get me wrong. But I definitely don’t think of us as having any potential for anything romantic there. We’re just good friends.”
Good to know, good to know!
So, How Did Maddy and Andre Meet When They Never Crossed Paths In the Love Island Villa?
While Andre was the first Islander to be dumped in 2022, long before Maddy arrived as a bomb, the pair’s paths still managed to cross post-filming.
Maddy revealed that her friendship with Andre started after they were introduced by fellow Islander Layla John.
“Andre is quite a bit younger than me and we’ve never crossed paths before. But when I came off the show, Layla messaged me on WhatsApp and started a group chat with Andre.”
So, has Maddy found love after Love Island?
Spoiler alert: it’s the latter, so start sliding into her DMs, boys!
“I’m happily single but then, am I really happily single? I don’t know. I do get lonely sometimes,” she admitted.
“But it’s also nice to be able to have the freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want and not have to run it by anybody.”

What Was The Original Tea About Maddy Gilbanks and Andre Coutinho Getting Together IRL?
As revealed in episode 233 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one So Dramatic! spy eyed the pair all loved up in Perth last weekend.
“Maddy and Andre from Love Island are together, it seems,” they dished.
“I saw them Sunday night in Cottesloe, Perth, Sunday seshing,”
Noting that they were “drinking, dancing [and] holding hands”, the spy provided photographic evidence to back up her sighting.
She then took her snooping duties to the next level, dishing up her own insider intel after her friends revealed they actually know Maddy and Andre and that they’re “definitely dating”.
Maybe it was wishful thinking?
