Love Island Australia 2021‘s Noah Hura gave 2022 Islander Andre Coutinho some not-so-hot advice before he ventured into the Spanish villa.
Since his debut on the hit dating show, the 24-year-old was soon beloved for his go-with-the-flow personality (and good looks!!), so it’s no surprise he found a quick spark with Stella Hutcheon.
However, their budding romance took a turn during the November 7 episode when the bubbly Queenslander chose to recouple with mullet king Jordan Dowsett instead of Andre, ultimately making him the first Islander to be *officially* dumped in 2022.
While his time in the villa was short, the mental health worker was well-equipped for the long game thanks to his pal and ex-contestant Noah, who recommended Andre to producers.
Chatting to So Dramatic!, Andre said that he’d never thought about going on TV until Noah asked if he was keen on Love Island.
The 2021 bad boy’s recommendation then streamlined the application process; before he knew it, Andre was in Spain.
“I’ve never really thought of reality TV at all… It was just an opportunity that you’d be stupid to say no to,” he said, adding he’d “never even watched” Love Island bar a few episodes featuring Noah last year.
As such, he leaned on his pal — whom he met playing footy when they were 15 — for advice on navigating the murky waters of love.
What Advice Did Noah Hura Give Love Island Australia 2022‘s Andre Coutinho?
Andre confessed that his Love Island experience was “a lot harder” than he’d anticipated, particularly after trying to heed Noah’s nuggets of wisdom.
“He said, ‘Go in there, be you, try and stick with a girl, find the most dramatic girl’,” he recalled. “He said to try and get some airtime.”
However, the Perth local soon discovered the “dramatic” route “did not work” for him, particularly after coming across Jessica Losurdo on day one.
“Jess stepped forward for me, and I went away from that… just stuff that went on behind-the-scenes between us walking out and picking [someone],” he admitted.
He explained that “there was just a bit of carry-on” from the Sydneysider that made him think: “Mmm, probably not for me.
“Like she’s ‘too hot’, she had a headache, stuff like that.”
While going with Jessica may have guaranteed him a few extra days in the villa, Andre’s pleased he lived his Love Island experience the same way he leads life in the real world.
“I think [Jordan] said it pretty well, like, I’d rather leave being myself than stay an extra week or two and stop being me.
“That’s the most important thing.”
