Stan’s Love Triangle is wrapping up, but it’s never too late to give you some inside tea on how it all works, including how the cast was given an entirely different plot when they first applied!

Earlier this year, we revealed that a new dating show was in the works called Modern Dating.

“The premise [of the show] is the trials and tribulations of dating in the modern age using apps,” a source told us, and sound familiar?

Well, it turns out that Modern Dating was actually a cover-up for Love Triangle to suck in unsuspecting applicants to apply for the show.

As reported in episode 230 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the reason for the name change was so that the HECTIC plot “twist wouldn’t be revealed.”

“Producers didn’t want to tell contestants what the twist was because they were worried it would put them off and the show wouldn’t work,” a source told host Megan Pustetto.

Of course, during the series, the OG singles (including Kyle RomaiorAlex DaltonLisa Leaño HopkinsMadi ClarkYannick Samarasinghe and Ly-Huong Tran) were confronted with their second option halfway through the experiment.

The Love Triangle Twist Caused MAJOR Drama

This epic bombshell caused MAJOR drama — particularly when Yannick, as well as Madi’s new boy, James Till, f*cked up royally by sneaking out and hooking up with some British backpackers.

Now, the name change actually makes a lot of sense, given that both shows (Modern Dating and Love Triangle) were produced by Endemol Shine Australia as well as Married at First Sight producers; the story checks out!

Plus, as mentioned earlier, the premise of both shows sounds exactly the same, minus the additional development.

A Love Triangle Applicant Reveals What Happened During Casting

A So Dramatic! super spy, who got through the final stages of casting, said that “producers were focused on Modern Dating“, telling them that there was an iPad to “choose your date”.

“You’d date them and if it didn’t work out you’d move on to the next,” they said. “But if it did work out, you’d move in together and go from there.”

“I got to the final stages of casting and decided that I didn’t want to go through with it,” the Insider dished. “Seeing that it definitely wasn’t what I thought it was, I’m glad I didn’t go through with it now!”

According to the source, the production also talked about texting and calling before the date, which is exactly what the singles did in the first few eps!

“The contestants were told that they would be appearing on Modern Dating before the twist of the third person was introduced. This was so the reactions were genuine”.

“They told them the show’s name after the big reveal!”

Hmmm… we wonder what they’ll call it before next season, then?!
