After dropping over $40 million to date on The Block houses, fans are as curious as ever as to what big spender Danny Wallis does with all of the properties.
The IT entrepreneur was front and centre at The Block 2022 auctions where he snapped up THREE of the five homes — including that of eventual winners Omar Slaimankhel and Oz Malik.
A number of viewers have dubbed the Melburnian as “greedy” but unbeknownst to some, Danny is a philanthropist who gives away many of the homes to children’s cancer charities.
However, this year, the 52-year-old plans to hang onto the keys of one of the Gisborne ranches for himself.
“This year, I’ll be keeping one for myself to grow vegetables and grow fruit trees in the backyard, and a little holiday,” he admitted during an interview on 3AW on November 7.
He also noted that another of the properties “will be a resort for kids”, and come on, how can you get mad at that?!
While Danny said he prefers House Five, he knows it’s “the best one” for children.
“It’s got the basketball court and tennis court,” he said of Omar and Oz’s house, which also boasts five bedrooms, three bathrooms and “the most prized kitchen on The Block“.
This season, Danny purchased the property for $5.66 million and Tom Calleja and Sarah-Jane Wilson‘s for just over $4.1 million.
He also snagged Rachel and Ryan Carr‘s reno for just above $4.2 million in post-auction negotiations.
What Other Properties Has Danny Wallis Purchased on The Block?
While Danny has been a prominent figure during the past three seasons of The Block, the founder of technology services company DWS Limited first appeared on the show in 2012.
That year, he bought Mike and Andrew Jones‘ Melbourne home on Dorcas Street, which he loaned to the Ronald McDonald House Charity for several years before selling it in 2016.
Since then, he’s purchased 11 homes that have been made over by Blockheads.
Two-time contestants Mitch Edwards and Mark Mckie have been extra fortunate to have Danny purchase both of their Block properties.
During The Oslo season in 2019, the couple’s home was the only one to be snapped up by the entrepreneur. While in 2021, the all-stars’ WINNING property was one of three bought by Danny.
