The Block Australia 2022‘s Ankur Dogra was called out by viewers for claiming to have “PTSD” after being repeatedly confronted by foremen Keith and Dan about his professional ability as an accountant.

During the October 24 episode, the foremen disparaged Ankur’s profession for the second time on the show, after he and Sharon Johal spent $26,000 over the allocated budget (again).

Keith and Dan brought up the new invoice with Sharon, Ankur and their lead landscaper, Tim – seemingly before the Blockheads even had a chance to look at the latest figures.

“What are you going to do? Ankur, you’re an accountant. Have you been all over this?” Keith asked during the televised confrontation.

“We’ve been under budgetary restriction for a long time. Whenever Keith and Dan come up, or even Scotty [Cam] addresses it, I suppose we’re defensive about it,” Ankur said, explaining the tradesmen shouldn’t have brought his “livelihood” into the conversation.

He added: “They come full force. It’s pretty confronting. I think we have PTSD from the previous occurrences also.”

The Block 2022 Viewers Shared Their Reactions to Ankur Dogra Suggesting He and Sharon Johal Had “PTSD”

Fans were outraged about Ankur suggesting he had “PTSD” from the negative past experiences, explaining it was an often debilitating mental health condition that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can be triggered by witnessing or experiencing a terrifying event.

Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, and uncontrollable thoughts about the event, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Ankur Dogra’s Wife Sharon Johal Has Also Claimed To Have Experienced PTSD on The Block 2022

It comes just weeks after Sharon joked that she experienced PTSD during the October 11 episode.

In an interview-to-camera, Sharon and Ankur explained they were nervous about chatting to Scotty about their progress because they were never sure how the conversation would go.

‘Whenever we hear Scotty’s coming for a visit, we get really anxious,” she said: “We’ve got PTSD from the last couple of visits that we’ve had”.

Fans were furious that Sharon used a mental health issue descriptor for her nervousness.

Viewers took to Twitter to speak out against Sharon mentioning PTSD so flippantly. Some that the conversational use “diminished the value of the term”.

Several other contestants have also been called out for trivialising mental health conditions, including Bipolar Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
