The Bachelorette Australia 2015 lead Sam Frost has revealed the heartfelt meaning behind the unique engagement ring Australian Survivor 2022‘s Jordie Hansen gave her when he proposed.
In true proof of “when you know, you know”, Sam and Jordie announced their engagement in July after just five months of dating.
Now, the former Home and Away actress has taken to her Instagram Story to dish the deets on her stunning ring after fans clamoured for a “close up”.
Not only does the ring bare an opal, Sam also said it was from Coober Pedy — the same South Australian town where her partner popped the question!
“I’m not a diamond person,” she confessed. “I love gemstones and crystals… and I’ve always liked unique rings.”
As such, the non-traditional piece is “perfect” for Sam, who said Jordie “did very well” with his selection.
The ex-Bachelorette added that uniqueness will also be a focal point of their impending wedding, too.
“We haven’t started planning, but we know it’ll be pretty low-key,” she continued.
“We just want to celebrate our love with an intimate group of our favourite people… most likely next year, in spring [or] summer.”
Sam Frost Reveals Whether She Will Change Her Surname After Wedding Jordie Hansen
In addition to wedding plans, Sam also dished on her choice not to change her name from Frost to Hansen.
“I don’t plan on changing my surname,” she asserted in a subsequent Story.
Explaining that she conveyed this to Jordie on their first date to “manage expectations”, Sam said her beau wasn’t fazed by the decision.
“He didn’t bat an eyelid and replied… ‘That’s fair enough, why should you change your name[?]'” she recalled.
Noting that she “loves” when people choose to change their name, Sam said she had “always felt uncomfortable” about giving her surname up.
“It’s my identity, it’s my family, and I feel deeply connected to my surname,” she admitted. “Very grateful to have a supportive and understanding partner.”
While Sam won’t be taking her fiancé’s name, she did tell fans that the couple’s “future babies with be ‘Hansen’ though”.
The reality TV couple met through Sam’s brother, Alex, who also starred on Australian Survivor 2022 alongside Jordie.
