Kyle Sandilands has confirmed he will soon be back on the small screen as he resumes his role as a judge on the newly rebooted Australian Idol.

In July, Channel Seven announced that their revival of the hit singing show will debut in 2023, 13 years after its Channel 10 run ended in 2009.

Now, Kyle has taken to his radio program, The Kyle and Jackie O Show, to dish that he will captain Australian Idol‘s return to TV — even though he was told not to “officially announce that [he’s] on it”.

While he’s still yet to sign on the dotted line, Kyle said he’ll be the only former judge returning to the show.

“Will any of the other remaining judges like Marcia [Hines], Ian [Dickson] or Mark [Holden] be returning?” Kyle’s radio co-host, Jackie O Henderson, asked.

“No, I’m the only one still alive on TV,” Kyle quipped on August 15 before adding: “Marcia would be good but she is touring around.”

Who Will Join Kyle Sandilands on Australian Idol?

While the controversial disc jockey didn’t offer up any names, he did give some insight into who could sign onto the show.

“I’d like one other Australian judge and then I think we would like a big US name and a big UK name,” Kyle said, adding that he has the final say as to who will star alongside him.

“They can’t sign on someone else unless I sign off on it … I’m not going to be doing the show with a bunch of knobs.” LOL!

The Australian Idol Reboot Will Have a New Host

As much as we’d like to see OG co-hosts Andrew G (who we now all know as Osher Günsberg) and James Mathison back on the revamped series, Kyle said that ain’t gonna be the case.

According to the radio personality, Osher is too “busy filming projects for Channel 10” to return and duh! The man is run off his feet hosting The Masked Singer Australia and shows within The Bachelor franchise!

The show is also pegged to go back to its OG format, which will see contestants audition across the country before a top 12 is selected for live shows.

Kyle, who became a first-time dad on August 11, first joined Australian Idol in 2005 and continued his post until it concluded in 2009.

And, it seems he won’t be letting up on his trademark abrasiveness in his return to TV.

“I like The Voice, but I won’t be one of them wishy washy Voice judges that say, ‘No matter how disgusting you are to look at, you’ve got a great voice,'” he said.

“I’m not interested in that sh*t. I can only be myself.”

TBH, we’d expect nothing less!
