Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s Daniel Holmes has exclusively revealed to So Dramatic! why he and co-star-turned-bae Carolina Santos broke up following his announcement on August 8.
After he was “bombarded” with speculation that they’d gone their separate ways, the intruder groom took to Instagram to explain that he and Carolina had split up.
“We had a unique experience together… but life just has a different plan for us,” he penned at the time.
Now, the 31-year-old has told So Dramatic! that while they were good together, “no relationship is perfect”.
“It’s the best decision for now,” he continued, confessing that you can never say never to them getting back together.
“Who knows what happens in the future.”
After Married at First Sight wrapped up filming, Daniel relocated from Brisbane to Sydney to shack up with Carolina (who is currently holidaying in London).
Now, the fitness fanatic has returned home “for the meantime”.
“[I] will move back to Sydney solo, I like it there now,” he admitted.
News of Daniel and Carolina’s split emerged just hours after their co-stars Olivia Frazer and Jackson Lonie announced their own relationship breakdown, which had fans wondering if the couples orchestrated a communal break-up of sorts.
However, Daniel told So Dramatic! that this wasn’t the case.
Was It a Coincidence That Daniel Announced His Break-Up the Same Day as Olivia and Jackson?
“It was just a coincidence,” he said. “I wanted to make an announcement but felt pressure… so I think seeing [Jackson] do it pushed me over the line to get it over with.”
It echoes the sentiment Daniel expressed in his break-up announcement, in which he said he felt “huge pressure to just hold off” on revealing the split.
He penned: “I think it’s been obvious for a while we have gone our separate ways. There’s no right way to deal with these situations.”
After originally sharing the post, Daniel quickly deleted it before re-uploading it some time later.
“Be kind pls, [sic]” he captioned it.
So Dramatic! has reached out to Carolina, who is yet to comment on the break-up.
