The Block 2022 has arrived with its biggest-ever build which means they’ve found an almighty new cast to take on the challenge.

Aptly titled Tree Change, the show’s 18th (!!) season follows five teams as they each transform a 10-acre property in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges location of Gisborne.

Long-time host Scott Cam is back at the helm and ready to wrangle the budding Blockheads. So, who will come out on top and who will be fleeing faster than Scotty shouts “tools down”?

Ankur and Sharon, Victoria

Married couple Ankur and Sharon may not have any construction skills under their tool belts, but the countryside is certainly something they can toy with.

Having grown up on a farm in South Australia, Sharon is ready to give The Block her all.

“We are stressing bullets,” she told 9Now. “But hard work we are not scared of.”

Nor the cameras, apparently, as Sharon has been front and centre on TV before. Eagle-eyed fans may remember Sharon from her stint on Neighbours, on which she played Dipi Rebechhi.

She now works as a lawyer, while her hubby Ankur is an accountant.

Dylan and Jenny, Queensland

Contrary to their castmates, Dylan and Jenny know their way around a work site.

The engaged couple are both tradies, with Dylan being a builder and Jenny an apprentice carpenter — making her the first-ever female contestant to be a tradesperson.

With their joint construction talents, the duo own their own building company called Smooth Sailing designs.

“When I tell people I am doing my apprenticeship they always say you don’t build, you don’t do anything. But I do – I do everything,” Jenny confessed to Nine.

Just proving they have what it takes, the couple was amid their own home build when they got the call to compete on The Block.

Elle and Joel, New South Wales

Inspired to apply for The Block 2022 after finding solace in the show throughout 2021’s lockdown, Elle and Joel are bringing a litany of talents to the construction site.

Joel has a background in building, having renovated two houses in Brisbane and his fiancée has a diploma in interior design.

However, if you’re sitting there wondering, ‘why do I feel like I know these two?’, it’s probably because you do!

Joel is a former footballer, having played over 200 games for the Brisbane Lions and Greater Western Sydney. Meanwhile, Elle is a social media influencer with over 700K followers on the ‘gram.

Oh, and they’re that couple who walked out just a couple of days into filming…

Omar and Oz, New South Wales

Hailing from Western Sydney, besties Omar and Oz are hoping to be role models for young Muslim Australians during their stint on The Block 2022.

“We are Muslim and I am Lebanese, but I am Australian Lebanese,” Oz told 9Now. “I’m a proud Australian and I want to show what two Muslim Aussies can do.”

As a Block superfan, Oz will bring some serious heat to the competition with his experience as a building maintenance manager.

Meanwhile, Omar is an ex-NRL player, so he’ll be bringing the muscles!

The duo are also staunch family men — Oz has three sons, while Omar has two.

Tom and Sarah-Jane, Victoria

Plummer Tom and his social worker wife, Sarah-Jane, are joining The Block 2022 cast with the aim of giving their one-year-old daughter, Cleo, a better future.

Long nights of painting be damned, Tom dished to Nine that he “could work 24 hours a day”.

“I love it,” he said. “So that part of The Block is not going to bother me, I’m going to relish it.”

“Bright and bubbly” Sarah is also bringing her A game, rubbishing those who have something to say about her “loud” personality.

“People always say that I’m so loud,” she says. “Yes, I’m a lot, and some people don’t like it, but I’m harmless. I just like to have a laugh and a good time.”
