Serial reality star Jack Vidgen has revealed that he almost died in 2021 after suffering a drug overdose.

Jack, who first shot to fame on Australia’s Got Talent in 2011, confessed on Carla From Bankstown‘s podcast, OMG Bro, that he has previously struggled with substance abuse.

“I have had a history with substance abuse,” the 25-year-old told the Celebrity Apprentice Australia fan-favourite.

Revealing that his battle with drugs “definitely [stems] from trauma”, Jack admitted that his substance abuse and poor drinking habits spiralled out of control following six months of sobriety last year.

“I essentially overdosed and am very lucky I didn’t die,” he said.

While Jack says he’s “never been an alcoholic”, drinking has commonly been the catalyst for his problems.

“Maybe not always, but the chaos builds up.”

The Goodbye singer also spent six weeks in a rehabilitation facility to aid in combatting his substance abuse in 2020.

Since his life-threatening overdose, Jack has stood by his bid to remain sober and is regularly attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

“Just to be real with you, I do go to Narcotics Anonymous meetings,” he told Carla. “I do things like that because I find it helps me in a disciplinary way.”

He continued: “Just to have something that I can go to and it reminds you of where things can get, and hearing people’s stories and sharing where you’re at. I find it really powerful.”

The I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! 2021 contestant added that he “wants clarity” in his life — but isn’t sure whether that means steering clear of alcohol forever.

“I’m sober now. I don’t know whether I’ll be sober from alcohol forever, I still haven’t decided that, or whether I want that. But I know for now, I just need to be sober.

“I want clarity in my life. I want peace.”
