Big Brother Australia 2022‘s consistent physical and vision-focused challenges have been slammed by fans, with many suggesting a disadvantage for Reggie Bird, who is legally blind.

Reggie competed in the second chance challenge alongside Estelle Landy and Taras Hrubyj-Piper on July 5, which required the housemates to see the different sized tiles to “build a bridge” in the correct size order.

The season three winner had been voted out by newbies Johnson Ashak and Aleisha Campbell, after Big Brother announced a shock double eviction on July 4.

The second chance challenge was the only way to guarantee that she and/or Estelle could go back into the Big Brother house, so many fans felt it should be equally difficult for all the participants.

Big Brother Australia 2022 Challenges Were Called “Ableist” on Twitter

Fans quickly pointed out how disproportionately difficult the challenge was for a vision-impaired person, describing it as “unfair” and “ableist”.

But this wasn’t the first challenge that put Reggie at a clear disadvantage, with some fans questioning why Big Brother production brought her back to “humiliate her” with near-impossible tasks.

Others praised Reggie for persevering through all of the challenges and never complaining, suggesting it proved that she deserved to win the season.

Personally, we think she is doing amazing for what obstacles she is given!
