Married at First Sight Australia has been cancelled by its US broadcaster, Lifetime and fans of the hit marriage experiment are mad AF.

When the cable network acquired the rights to MAFS Australia in 2020, its American viewers became quick fans of Down Under’s drama, with many preferring it to the US version of the show.

The same fans were left reeling after they tried to tune in to a recent episode in June, only to discover a different show airing in Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s regular time slot.

Lifetime is yet to address the shock dumping of the series. However, a post was shared on the network’s official MAFS Instagram page directing fans to watch the show on Lifetime’s streaming app.

Viewers took to social media to protest the change, with some accusing the network of “screwing” over the fans.

“Why on earth take a popular show off the air mid-season and instead show movie reruns. [sic],” one viewer wrote. “Way to screw the viewers.”

Fans Call Out Lifetime for Axing Married at First Sight Australia Mid-Way Through the Season

Others are “incredibly pissed” that Lifetime pulled Married at First Sight partway through the season.

It is believed the series was fast approaching the infamous nude photo scandal involving Olivia Frazer and Domenica Calarco.

“Ridiculous that you move it in the middle of the season,” an angered fan wrote under Lifetime’s post.

Another penned: “No clue why Lifetime would decide to pull this series smack in the middle of Season 9.”

The follower then said it added “insult to injury” that the on-demand episodes were not available to watch either.

American Fans Previously Questioned Married at First Sight Australia‘s Lack of Diversity

After the latest unhinged season kicked off on March 30, the yanks had multiple gripes when it comes to the cast —namely the predominantly white line-up of participants.

“No POC [people of colour],” one fan penned online. “I won’t be watching.”

Another took to the official Married at First Sight US Instagram page, questioning: “Are there no Spanish, Black or Asian people in Australia?

“Every season they all look the same.”

So Dramatic! has since revealed that in their hunt for 2023 participants, MAFS Australia producers have placed a focus on casting POC.
