Married at First Sight Australia 2022 has hit US screens and American fans are not impressed with the lack of diversity among this year’s cast.

As exclusively revealed by So Dramatic!, the latest unhinged season of MAFS Australia kicked off in America on March 30.

Now, with a few episodes having aired already in the U.S of A, the yanks have multiple gripes when it comes to the cast —namely the predominantly white line-up of participants.

American viewers tuning into Married at First Sight Australia called out the cast’s lack of diversity. Source: Nine.

“No POC [people of colour],” one fan penned online. “I won’t be watching.”

Another took to the official Married at First Sight US Instagram page, questioning: “Are there no Spanish, Black or Asian people in Australia?

“Every season they all look the same.”

The comments come after the US has seen a number of racially diverse couples on the nation’s own version of MAFS. This includes several Black, Asian and mixed-race contestants across its 14 seasons.

One fan came to the defence of the series, however, revealing that there are still a number of diverse cast members yet to be introduced.

This includes Selina Chhaur, who is half-Cambodian, half-Chinese, Al Perkins, who is half-Malaysian, Ella Ding, who’s half-Taiwanese and Carolina Santos, who hails from Brazil.

As well as a number of Italian cast members including Brent Vitiello, Dion Giannarelli, Domenica Calarco and Jack Miller.

What Else Did US Viewers of Married at First Sight Australia Take Issue With?

While the lack of racial inclusivity was the main point US viewers took issue with, there were other elements they poked fun at, too.

One fan wondered why they should watch the Aussie series when they “can’t understand much of what is said”.

“No, I don’t have cognitive issues,” they penned, adding: “Their accents are SO STRONG.”

Another viewer called out the music choices, revealing they “can’t hear what they are even saying” due to the background music.

Lifetime, the channel which airs the American version of MAFS, has been the broadcast partner for the Aussie iteration for a number of years.

What Reaction Has the US Had to Past Seasons of Married at First Sight Australia?

MAFS Australia first premiered in the US with the seventh season in 2020 and introduced stars such as Stacey HamptonHayley VernonPoppy Jennings and Michael Goonan to a whole new audience of unsuspecting viewers.

Since then, America has also got to know 2021 cast members Bryce Ruthven (condolences), Coco Stedman, Sam Carraro (AKA Slim Shady) and Beck Zemek, who was met with varying opinions after THAT reunion blunder.

Still, despite the total trainwrecks that have crossed their screens, US fans (for the most part) clamoured for the drama. They even went as far as to call on Netflix to stream the first six seasons of Married at First Sight Australia, too!
