Married at First Sight Australia’s Beck Zemek has drawn back the curtain on her rocky relationship with her TV husband Jake Edwards.

It certainly wasn’t love at first sight for this pair — it was barely even ‘like’ at first sight. But in a raw two-part tell-all interview with the So Dramatic! podcast, the 28-year-old opened up on her tumultuous relationship with the ex-footballer, and boy, is it a lot.

The TV bride chatted to host Megan Pustetto and spilled all the details about her time on the show, from the reason why she was so cold towards Jake in the experiment, down to what eventually made her call quits on the relationship.

Beck Zemek On Feeling Like Jake Edwards Acted Differently When Cameras Were Around

Beck claims that from day dot, she felt that Jake on-camera and Jake behind closed doors were two different people.

“I was feeling this even… on our wedding day,” she confessed. “It was just quite structured and every time Jake responded… he was responding with the answer he thought people would want to hear rather than giving an authentic answer.”

Recalling the incident where viewers saw her pull away from Jake’s kiss on their honeymoon, Beck revealed Jake had rejected her in a similar way just moments earlier.

“There’s chocolates in our bedroom… I bite one half and go to feed him the other half. As I go to do this, he pulls his head away.

“It’s awkward… he’s acting weird, and then as soon as the camera’s set up, he goes in for this kiss.”

Beck said regardless of what happened throughout the experiment, she felt like she was depicted as the villain to fit in Jake’s ‘nice guy’ storyline.

She even noted that her TV husband confessed he had tried to sabotage their relationship in the beginning!

Producer Manipulation Had A Hand In Why Beck Wanted To Leave The Experiment

Beck admitted that the MAFS producers had a hand in why things ended between her and Jake.

Describing the experiment as “jail”, she confessed the pair tried to leave the experiment multiple times to no avail.

“I did not want to be in the experiment anymore. I wasn’t able to be myself,” she recalled. “It lost track of what our relationship was about.”

She also revealed that she didn’t realise how “defeated” she was by the producers’ manipulation until after the experiment.

“I was trapped in a relationship I no longer wanted to be in, in an experiment that had no credibility,” she said, adding she felt like a “puppet”.

What Really Happened When Beck Said She Kissed Her “Brother”

Viewers will remember the damning video unveiled at the Married at First Sight 2021 reunion that showed Beck kissing another man during her trip home to care for her sick dog, Oscar.

The clip came to fruition after the couples had finished discussing the fact that Jake had kissed another bride, Booka Nile, at a New Year’s Eve party just weeks beforehand.

At first, Beck claimed the man in the video was her brother, but quickly came clean that it was a former partner.

“I will own it, I did, I cheated on Jake,” she reiterated to So Dramatic!, but admitted, “At that time in my eyes, I didn’t feel like I was in a relationship”.

But why did she first insist it was her brother in the video?

According to Beck, this was the same excuse Jake have when he was caught kissing Booka.

“Jake was talking about Booka being a sister to him and how it was like kissing his sister…. I made a smart-ass comment to him, like ‘Yeah, it’s my brother’.”

The Truth About Bryce Ruthven’s Forceful Kiss

MAFS 2021 villain Bryce Ruthven left Beck in tears after he planted an unwanted kiss on her cheek after dubbing her “the queen” of the experiment.

While fans and contestants alike were uncomfortable with the forceful display, Beck revealed it was much worse than it played out on-screen.

“At this stage of the experiment, everyone had had enough of Bryce,” she said, adding: “Producers were constantly trying to set up confrontation between Bryce and I.”

“It was not… the smart-ass kiss that actually traumatised me from this experience, it was him grabbing my arm and actually trying to pull me up.”

She then revealed production shut down as soon as the incident happened — producers even had to physically restrain Jake and Bryce to stop them from brawling!

“Jake’s just seen red when he [saw] the way Bryce had actually treated me,” Beck confessed.

She claims the altercation between the grooms wasn’t shown due to it not fitting in with Jake’s upstanding storyline.
