Married at First Sight Australia 2022’s Selina Chhaur has revealed the heartbreaking reason behind her stunning hair transformation.
The reality star, who transformed her lighter locks to a dark brunette on June 12, walked the red carpet at the 2022 Logie Awards, sporting a brand new look.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, she admitted that the evolution was a result of “therapy” after the show.
“I had a lot of therapy after MAFS and I obviously realised that I was holding on to a lot of things from my childhood,” she told the outlet.
Selina went on to say that she was “bullied” when she was younger because she was “different”.
“Bullying doesn’t just mean people yell at you or push you around,” she said. “Bullying can actually just be like blatantly leaving someone out and making them feel excluded because they’re different, and that’s what I experienced a lot as a child.”
After being paired with the problematic Cody Bromley on the hit TV show, the 33-year-old revealed it triggered “pain and trauma” from comments that were made during the show.
“What happened and what was said cut deep and that was just next level,” she admitted. “And obviously if I had healed that trauma as a child I wouldn’t have probably reacted as I did when that happened.”
After MAFS wrapped, Selina went home and did a lot of “reflecting”.
“I was like, you know what? I’m going to embrace my natural look. I love being Asian and I love my culture and I’m proud, so I want to represent!”
