Married at First Sight Australia 2022 devolved into uncharted chaos on Wednesday night after Cody Bromley revealed he wasn’t attracted to his wife due to her ethnicity.

During Confessions Week, Cody and Selina Chhaur were tasked with posing “hard questions”, with Selina honing in on her hubby’s reasons for not finding her attractive.

Feeling dejected after not being placed first in the bride ranking challenge, the 33-year-old asked: “Is the lack of interest, attraction and affection due to my nationality and look?”

Just when we thought Cody couldn’t muster up anything more tone-deaf than his “my schlong isn’t coordinating with my head” comment, he really started a sentence with: “I’m not racist, but…”

As anyone with half a brain can expect, this didn’t go over well with viewers.

What Did Viewers Say About Cody Bromley’s Comments On Married At First Sight?

Apparently, Cody’s decision to rank Samantha Moitzi higher than his wife wasn’t race-related. In fact, he claimed it had more to do with the fact that he’s “more familiar” with “blonde, surfy” women from his native Sydney’s northern beaches.

Now, he might be a swim coach, but he sure is backstroking fast…

Cody Solidifies Selina’s Feelings About Being Asian

Since the series kicked off, the South Australian has been open about the bullying she’s faced as a result of her race.

Despite this, the Married at First Sight groom was unable to grasp how his disappointing (see also: racist) comments would affect his own wife.

Cody Ain’t All That

Standing in solidarity with Selina, a number of Twitter users took to the platform to boost her up… even if it came at the cost of dragging old mate Cody back to earth.

Boy, the experts are going to have a field day with this one.
