Celebrity Apprentice Australia 2022 winner Benji Marshall has revealed that the show’s human resources team had to step in to defuse tension between himself and another star.
For those who watched the boardroom blockbuster, it’s no secret that Ronnie Caceres was the big bad wolf of the season.
From searing jabs to secret alliances, the two-time The Block star made more enemies than friends — Benji included.
Speaking to KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show on June 22, the NRL great said Ronnie wasn’t “authentic”.
Noting that he “thought [he] was going to”, Benji said he got “a bit of a brief from HR on that” due to his thinning patience.
The former South Sydney Rabbitohs player said it came after Ronnie suggested that their 66-year-old co-star, Jean Kittson, had “dementia” in front of business executives.
After finding out about the interaction, Benji said he was “really disappointed”.
“He said she had dementia, twice, and I hit him up,” Benji told the radio shock jocks. “It’s not a thing to joke about.”
The father of two went on the explain that his wife Zoe‘s grandmother “died from dementia”. He also knows several other people who have suffered from the disease.
Benji Marshall Called Ronnie Caceres Out for “Playing a Role” On Celebrity Apprentice
Benji also called on another instance where Ronnie was relentless in his antics.
“He really had a go at me one day and I said, ‘Please Ronnie, not today, I’m having a bit of a bad day,’ and he still [continued],” he recalled. “I said, ‘Mate, what are you doing?’ and he said, ‘Well, do you wanna make good TV or not?'”
The Celebrity Apprentice winner said that Ronnie was “forgetting” that charity was the sole cause of the series because he continued to make it about himself
“It’s funny though, he’s famous for being on reality TV, so I think he understands what it’s about,” Benji said. “But I think he tried to play a role that, in the end, he doesn’t look so good.”
