Fans of Celebrity Apprentice Australia 2022 went wild on Twitter after NRL great and all-round nice guy, Benji Marshall, won the series.
The ex-South Sydney Rabbitohs player was up against TV host and newfound bestie Darren McMullen in the June 21 finale.
Each finalist was tasked with organising a charity event in ONE day and whoever raised the most money would be crowned this year’s Celebrity Apprentice winner.
For his charity, Feel the Magic, Darren put on a magical extravaganza on Cockatoo Island, raising $172,617.
However, it wasn’t enough to out-raise Benji, who collected over $387,000 for Souths Cares during a kid’s day out at Leichhardt Oval.
With a rousing speech and a performance by The Wiggles, how could the dad of two not win?!
Fans Took to Twitter to Recognise How Amazing Benji Marshall Is
Despite board members’ worries that Benji was giving away too much merch for free at his event, Benji said he was “proud of [the] decision” he made.
“The biggest thing I wanted to get out of this event was to inspire kids to dream as big as you want, believe in yourself, work hard, and you’ll be surprised at what can happen,” he said. “At the end of the day, I’m proud of that decision and I’m happy to live with that.”
Overall the NRL star raised a whopping $487,105 for Souths Cares.
Naturally, fans went wild over his candour and took to Twitter to sing his praises.
Benji Marshall just proved you don’t need to be money hungry and you can still come out on top!!! Doubled the amount of lonely raised by hosting a free event where he gave away most of the items he was hoping to sell to raise more money!! Absolute legend!! #CelebrityApprenticeAU
