I’m a celebrity… get me *checks notes* into Married at First Sight?

In some truly tragic news, after long-running speculation, it has been confirmed that a celebrity version of Married at First Sight Australia is in the works.

A while back New Idea made some wild-ass claims that Nine had approached a bunch of celebs to appear on the show.

At the time, we thought ‘who TF would leave their cushy celeb life and destroy their reputation for the sake of a reality show (especially MAFS?)’ BUT now legendary journalist Richard Wilkins has confirmed the news.

Speaking to Fitzy & Wippa, Richard confessed that he was offered a whole lotta’ cash to take on the experiment.

“I won’t mention the amount of money but a lot of zeros,” he said. Damn!

What Would the Format Of Celebrity MAFS Look Like?

According to the OG report by New Idea – which was from when the concept was still in its early stages – Endemol Shine, the production company behind MAFS, wanted to “be bold and change things up.”

“A celebrity edition is exactly what MAFS needs – it’s a tried and tested format,” someone who claimed to be a production insider dished.

They also spilled the rumoured cast, which included the likes of Richard Reid, Yvie Jones, Ash Williams, Tully Smyth, Harry T and Paulini Curuenavuli.

After the report came out, Gogglebox queen Yvie said a big ol’ f*ck no to joining the experiment.

“Hahahaha AS IF,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a screenshot of the article and a vomit emoji.

Our reaction too, Yvie!

The Insider Admitted That People Go On MAFS to “Boost” Their Profiles

Despite Yvie poo-pooing the experiment, the source claimed that the concept for the spin-off was “only a possibility due to celebs in Australia already putting their hands up to take part in the experiment”.

“The truth is, the show has made some of the participants household names, and now some household names need a career boost,” the source said.

“That’s the MAFS machine!”

Sorry, did they just admit that literally f*cking no one goes on this show for love?
