Married at First Sight 2024 is finally here and we bet you’re wondering where in this God-forsaken country is the drama filmed?
While this year’s weddings sprung up in locations such as the Starship Sydney superyacht and St George Sailing Club, our attention is never far from the spectacle that is a MAFS dinner party.
If you’re a reality TV die-hard like us, you’ll be familiar with the warehouse-style setting of the infamous dinner events and commitment ceremonies.
Located in the Inner West Sydney suburb of Lilyfield, the industrial-chic backdrop has been home to many lovers’ spats, cheating confessionals and wine throwing. But as it turns out, the location isn’t all it chalks up to be on the small screen.
Outside of the several months it’s rented by the MAFS production team, the site is literally just a warehouse. Yep, that means no cascading floral arrangements, no velvet couches, and definitely no faux-French servers. C’est tragique!
It’s also situated on Sydney’s popular Bay Run, which means the location has become a hot spot for fans of the social experiment.
Where do the Married At First Sight 2024 participants live while on the show?
Every year the couples are expected to shack up together when they return from their honeymoons.
It’s a scientific fact (not really, but roll with it) that at least one couple will demand separate rooms by the time this part of the experiment rolls around.
This year, there appears to be a change in the accommodation where the newlywed couples stay.
In previous years, MAFS stars have notoriously lived in the Kent Street Skye Suites. Now, as reported by So Dramatic!, the series has shifted to the Skye Suites apartments in Green Square.
According to an insider, the hotels were switched up in a bid to prevent the reality stars from going rogue and leaking spoilers to the media. And to that, we say, good luck!
“Last year was just a mess,” they said. “Some cast members slipped out the fire escape and didn’t return until the birds chirped at sunrise and they wanted to put a stop to that.”
Construction on Kent Street also affected the location of MAFS 2024.
“The clamour from the construction site across Kent Street would’ve turned our romantic escapades into a hard hat zone,” a source joked.
But above all, the new location provided an opportunity to “revamp” the show and “give [it] a fresh vibe”.
