Just off your ball gowns and dance cards because Nine have just dropped The Courtship, a dating show set in England’s regency era — A.K.A reality TV’s answer to Bridgerton.

Having already launched on Hulu earlier this year, Australia has finally copped the entire highly anticipated first series finally being released on 9Now.

The series is sort of like if The Bachelorette had a baby with Netflix’s popular hit, Bridgerton. However, instead of a Bachie mansion, The Courtship is set in a 19th-century castle in the middle of England. Total upgrade!

And of course, all of the dates and challenges have a traditional Regency twist. Who needs a rose ceremony when you can take a horse-drawn carriage to the weekly “farewell ball”?

Who are the Stars of The Courtship?

TBH, it only takes a quick Google search to find out which gentleman took leading lady Nicole Rémy‘s fancy and whether they’re still together IRL (we’ll leave spoiling the series up to you nosy nellies).

But with all those handsome suitors done up to the nines in period costuming (and washed, for once), we can think of at least 16 smoking hot reasons to watch, regardless. Not to mention the drool-worthy dresses!

If nothing else (and we’d argue that there’s plenty), you could literally just watch to drool over the stunning costuming. Pictured: Nicole Remy. Source: Instagram.

Nicole, 26, also seems like an absolute sweetheart and we love cheering on a likeable lead. Despite the former Seattle Seahawks cheerleader’s modern lifestyle, Nicole — a sorority girl turned software engineer — wanted a traditional love story.

The Courtship Is Kinda Hardcore About Its Regency Era Theme

One of our fave things about The Courtship is that Nicole’s family and best friend are living in the castle with her.

Not only do the potential suitors have to impress Nicole, but they also have to impress the parents — just like in the old days! God, imagine your parents accompanying you to the club to background check your Saturday night hook-up…

This means that her parents set up all of Nicole’s dates and have a say in whole she should continue pursuing. Sure, that throws feminism back a couple of centuries, but it’s certainly on theme!

We’re already hoping for an Aussie version to be announced! The Courtship is now streaming on Nine.
