A My Kitchen Rules 2024 contestant has revealed which team was the most “problematic” this season, and we’re hardly surprised.

The current season of the hit cooking show has been explosive AF thanks to it being produced by the same team behind Married at First Sight.

While most of the drama has been between contestants Janey and Lawrence Murphy, a current contestant told Yahoo Lifestyle that Lawrence’s partner, Hannah Campbell, was also at the centre of controversy.

Hannah appeared as an intruder on the 12th season of Big Brother Australia. However, she copped a lot of BTS backlash on MKR because she “knew the producers” and “didn’t really know how to cook”.

“The fact Hannah had been on Big Brother was her ticket onto the show,” the source dished. “The two ‘lovebirds’ did not connect with everyone. They rubbed a few people up the wrong way and caused quite a bit of tension.”

According to the rogue contestant, the couple “fluked a lot of their food” and “proved having a mouth on them was why they secured a place on a cooking show.” Ouch.

“You could see they were TV talent brought in to liven up the room,” they added.

My Kitchen Rules’ Lawrence BOASTED about his TV experience

During the show, it was revealed that Lawrence was also no stranger to being behind the camera, as he’s an actor who’s starred in TV shows The Twelve and The Claremont Murders, as well as the film Before Dawn.

“I think Lawrence has stars in his eyes,” the contestant remarked. “He was happy to tell all of us about his resume of film credits. While he denies watching Hannah on Big Brother, he doesn’t mind that she has a recognisable face.”

The cast’s problems with the star-studded couple began when Hannah “boldly told everyone she was poached for the show” and didn’t apply.

“It was even more problematic to learn that they had no real history with food,” they added.

My Kitchen Rules producer says Hannah and Lawrence didn’t get special treatment BTS

One producer denied the rogue contestant’s claims, stating that Hannah didn’t get any special treatment despite her previous appearance on a Channel Seven show.

“The show is about home cooks. While Hannah’s time on Big Brother opened the door for her, she still had to go through most of the final stages,” the producer asserted.

“They didn’t just walk her out of the house and into the kitchen.”

The producer also spilled that Hannah was initially meant to star alongside her grandmother. However, they realised Lawrence was a better fit.
