Married at First Sight Australia 2021‘s Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson have revealed they’re moving their young family after a tumultuous few months.

In June, Bryce — who rose to infamy as MAFS 2021‘s “villain” — shared with fans that he and his TV wife-turned-IRL wife were “exploring the option of a relocation to Thailand”.

While that move hasn’t eventuated, Melissa has since revealed that they are still swapping Melbourne’s unpredictable weather for somewhere a lot sunnier.

In the October 2 entry of her blog, Her Second Shift, she penned: “It’s time. We are leaving Melbourne… And we are moving to sunny Queensland to live on the Gold Coast.

“After the sudden death of my father, my surprising ADHD diagnosis, 300+ job rejections in Melbourne, and Bryce’s nan passing away, it’s time for a change.”

Melissa — who shares twin two-year-old sons Levi and Tate with Bryce — added that her family’s health was a major factor behind the move.

“The four of us have also been sick for months. Me more than anyone,” she explained.

The ex-MAFS bride was hospitalised earlier this year with the flu. She also contracted conjunctivitis, gastro, HFM disease and general colds.

Melissa told her readers that Bryce‘s grandfather also resides on the Gold Coast, which added to their list of reasons to relocate.

“We can keep him company while renting out my house in Melbourne, which will hopefully save us some money,” she added.

Despite the excitement of a new chapter, Melissa said the moving process has been “extremely overwhelming”.

Plus, she’s struggling with the idea of leaving her family, who are based in Melbourne.

“My mum, dad and sister are my backbone,” Melissa confessed. “My sister is the sparkle to my soul, my mum does more for me than I deserve, and my dad took me in as his own and gave me a fruitful life.”

She then clarified that “this move is not a forever move”.’

“However, I’m excited to travel, live in the sun and start fresh after a difficult year,” she concluded. Good for them!
