It’s been alleged that Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s Domenica Calarco “sabotaged” her and Ella Ding‘s Sit With Us podcast in the lead-up to its cancellation.
On August 7, the former TV besties announced the end of their controversial podcast after a sh*t-show ensued following a hotly contested episode with MAFS 2024 “villains” Jack Dunkley and Tori Adams.
In the time between the episode and Sit With Us‘ cancellation, Domenica underwent a 21-day stay in a mental health facility before jetting off to Europe, while Ella was seemingly left to pick up the pieces.
Now, as revealed in episode 419 of the So Dramatic! podcast, a source close to the pair has revealed that “the breakup of Sit With Us is 100 per cent on Domenica’s back”. Yikes.
“Domenica has been an absolute nightmare behind the scenes since the Jack and Tori backlash,” they told host Megan Pustetto. “Ella wanted to keep doing the podcast and was working hard behind the scenes to keep it going and get it back on track.
“She’s been going above and beyond to be mindful of Domenica’s mental health and do extra work for the both of them in her absence.”
Domenica Calarco went against the podcast network’s wishes to ignore the backlash
Despite this, the insider claimed that “Domenica has been completely sabotaging” Ella’s hard work by being reactive online.
“She continued biting back and doubling down to the criticism on social media when the advice given to them by their podcast network was to not react and ignore it,” the source said.
“Then, the hospital stay where she made a big deal about it and tried to shift focus, which made them both look so much worse.
“Ella did what she could to save [Sit With Us], but Domenica was sabotaging her efforts at every turn.”
And if Domenica’s not-so-subtle social media jabs at Ella haven’t painted enough of a picture, the insider told So Dramatic! that she “has been treating Ella horrifically behind the scenes”.
“She has been really nasty to Ella. She has been gaslighting her, saying really unkind things to her and then when she went to Europe, she refused to answer her calls, messages and emails, leaving Ella to deal with everything on her own,” they alleged.
“Dom essentially ghosted her and now is playing the victim and making out like Ella is the one who abandoned her when it’s actually been the complete opposite.
They added: “Dom just saw an opportunity to leverage that and make Ella out to be the bad guy before it was too late.”
Who REALLY made the decision to end the Sit With Us podcast?
According to the insider, cancelling Sit With Us was a “mutual decision”.
“I’m not exactly sure who was the first to say it, but it was obvious to everyone that they weren’t going to be able to move forward and were at the point of no return,” they explained.
“Everyone involved pretty much agreed it was time to end it.”
They also clarified that “the network didn’t drop them”.
“It was more of a mutual decision from all parties involved that it was no longer tenable given the relationship breakdown and the backlash to the podcast. No one would probably want to advertise with them anymore either”.
However, they claimed that Domenica’s announcement that Sit With Us was dunzo went against their “agreed-upon plans to end the podcast.”
“Domenica went rogue when she made that initial announcement in their Facebook group. No one knew she was going to do that before she did it. They were completely blindsided,” the source explained.
“She completely disregarded their plans and f*cked the whole thing, and it created a huge mess behind the scenes.”
And thus came the demise of Domenica and Ella’s friendship…
