Mel Schilling confessed her cancer battle is taking its toll as filming for Married at First Sight Australia 2025 kicks off.
The relationship expert took to Instagram on December 20 to reveal she’d been diagnosed with colon cancer after experiencing “severe stomach cramps” whilst filming MAFS in 2023.
Following surgery to remove a cancerous tumour, the 52-year-old began a course of chemotherapy.

The treatment left her “feeling fatigued and nauseous”, and now, Mel has explained that the tiresome nature of her diagnosis has only remained now that she’s back on set for MAFS‘ 12th season.
Taking to Instagram on July 27, the mother-of-one shared a photo of herself looking sad on her Story.
“This is me. Absolutely shattered after a big day on set,” she penned. “Exhausted but satisfied but ready for a huge rest.
“Cancer is tough… but I’m tougher.”
Mel then shared another snap of her looking glammed up “a few hours later”.
“Different hair, different look, different lighting,” she wrote.

It comes after she told fans in May that she was “battling hard” against her cancer diagnosis as she entered her “fifth chemo cycle”.
“Sometimes you just have to do the thing you least feel like doing for your own good,” she deduced.
“Baby steps back toward strength & confidence.”
Sending her lots of love!
