Married at First Sight Australia expert Mel Schilling has shared a sad health update amid her battle with cancer.
Mel took to Instagram on December 20 to reveal she’d been diagnosed with colon cancer after experiencing “severe stomach cramps” whilst filming MAFS.
On May 27, Mel told The Mirror that her journey is “getting tough now” after experiencing the side effects of chemotherapy.

“I’m about halfway through and it’s getting hard,” she explained. “Feeling fatigued and nauseous is a bigger part of my everyday life. It feels like I’m hungover or pregnant every day, which isn’t fun.”
The 52-year-old recalled that she started chemotherapy the same day she moved to her new home in South West London with her husband, Gareth Brisbane.
“In true ‘me’ fashion, the day we moved was the day I started chemotherapy. I don’t do things by halves,” the mother-of-one said.
“It’s been a tricky time as I’ve been adjusting to going through that and moving house. But Gareth has been doing most of the move. I’m very lucky he’s happy to pick up the slack.”
Married at First Sight expert Mel Schilling tells Instagram followers she’s ‘battling hard’ in uplifting health update
This comes after Mel took to Instagram on May 24 to share another health update with her followers.
“Three days into my fifth chemo cycle,” she wrote to the captions. “I’m tired, nauseous, and very foggy-brained…but I’m battling hard with the big guy!
“Sometimes you just have to do the thing you least feel like doing, for your own good. Baby steps back toward strength & confidence,” she finished.
