Radio personality Jackie O Henderson has joined Channel Seven’s new dating show Stranded on Honeymoon Island. And here’s everything we know about it!

In April 2023, it was revealed that Seven had commissioned the steamy dating show, which delivered “record ratings” in Belgium and was dubbed the “hottest reality TV format in the world”.

Jackie O will narrate the show, which follows 12 “unlucky singles” on their very unconventional journey to find The One.

The contestants will be matched and married after a “speed dating event” before being stranded on a deserted island for 21 days with nothing but their wedding clothes. Yikes.

With no “modern dating obstacles”, social media, or distractions, the couples will have ample time to get to know each other. But will the extreme setting bring them closer together or further apart?

We’ve copped a dramatic first look at Stranded on Honeymoon Island, and strap in

Seven shared a dramatic first look at the new dating show on Instagram, and it’s giving Married at First Sight on steroids!

“Somewhere in the South Pacific, they’ll meet their match,” the trailer teased as the singles were shown arriving on a remote island in their wedding attire.

“No external opinions, no social media, it’s just me and one other person,” one contestant said.

“Being stranded for three weeks together, what could possibly go wrong,” another joked.

The sneak peek teased a hefty dose of romance, tears, and, of course, drama.

“I just wanted it to be Honeymoon Island, and I think it might be Nightmare Island,” one cast mate told the cameras before telling her “controlling” partner off for “speaking down” to her.

In another shot, the contestants are shown sitting around a table before one of them teases a cheating scandal.

“I do have a question for you. Why do you have a relationship on the outside of this?” they exclaimed. Oooh!

With nowhere to run or hide, we think this show will pave the way for the ultimate love story or the ultimate disaster. Either way, we can’t wait!

Stranded on Honeymoon Island is set to be ‘BIGGER’ than Married at First Sight

One insider told Yahoo! Lifestyle that the steamy new show will be “bonkers” AF. And we’re not surprised, given it’s from the producers of MAFS, Farmer Wants a Wife and Love Triangle.

“Australians have never seen a show like this before,” they told the outlet. “Producers have confirmed the show has some really compelling storylines which will overshadow the bonkers premise.”

They even said that the series is set to be “bigger and better than any season of MAFS“.

“The brief was to find a concept that’ll win over similar audiences to MAFS,” the source added. And we’ve never been more ready!

Insiders reveal HUGE problem set to plague Stranded on Honeymoon Island‘s ratings

Another insider told Yahoo! Lifestyle that the show’s ratings may be destroyed since it was filmed so far in advance.

“The couples won’t be together in real-time for [the audience] to follow the love story on socials,” the source said.

“Many of these shows are filmed months and sometimes even a year in advance. Which deprives audiences from investing in the real love stories.”

Other shows, such as MAFS, have a quicker turnaround between filming and airing, so there’s more of a chance the on-screen couples are still together IRL by the time it hits our screens.

“The MAFS participants who are still in relationships are the only ones we’re really still talking about,” the insider justified.

“Even someone as bright as Lucinda Light doesn’t have the longevity if there isn’t something juicy for us to follow.””

When is Stranded on Honeymoon Island set to air?

Per Yahoo! Lifestyle, the new dating show was meant to be on our screens already, however, it was delayed because “more money” was “thrown at it”.

“Channel Nine owns the ratings when MAFS and The Block are on screen. Industry insiders are predicting Stranded on Honeymoon Island is now scheduled to go up against The Block straight after the Olympics,” the source said.

With that being said, the show still hasn’t got an official airdate. But we hope and pray it will hit our screens soon!
