Former The Block contestants are chomping at the bit to return to the renovation show after one team quit just weeks into filming the 2024 season.

ICYMI: It was recently revealed that one of the teams competing in The Block‘s landmark 20th season ditched their tools “on their own accord” and left the show.

It was later confirmed that it was the Blue team, a young couple from Western Australia.

Now, insiders have told Yahoo! Lifestyle that “as soon as producers realised” the duo was gone for good, “the decisions on who could replace them started, and a few options were discussed.”

“They always have teams on standby and while they try and cast contestants robust enough to finish the 12-week shoot. Channel Nine knows life happens and that their participants might buckle under the pressure of the show.”

Case in point: Rachel and Ryan Carr, who were on The Block 2022 site just a few days after Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull quit.

Several sources confirm past The Block teams’ interest in the 2024 season

The source then told the outlet that several 2023 contestants had called the “top dogs” at Channel Nine to replace the Blue team.

However, producers deemed their return too soon.

“We wouldn’t bring someone back a year later,” the insider said. “The contestants need time to cool off.”

A number of sources in the know at Nine confirmed multiple houses contacted network executives begging for another shot at The Block.

While they didn’t name any names, we can think of a couple of teams who could use a redemption arc right about now…

Despite former Blockheads’ enthusiasm, producers have reportedly signed on two Sydney women named Maddy and Charlotte. The pair are already rumoured to be an exceptional addition to the cast!
