Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Timothy Smith has thanked fans for their support on TikTok after it was revealed he was previously imprisoned for drug trafficking.

As first reported by So Dramatic!, the 52-year-old spent over a year in super-maximum prison in the US in 2006 after being arrested for trafficking marijuana across the Canadian border.

Timothy, who was a Canadian resident at the time of his crimes, later addressed this in a tell-all interview on A Current Affair on April 9, confessing his past is “not something [he’s] proud of”.

Despite his prior conviction, his legion of fans have rallied around the TV groom, sharing support on social media.

Now, Timothy has returned the favour, going rogue on TikTok to thank viewers for sticking by him and for sharing their own experiences.

“I just want to reach out and say thank you so much to everybody. The response has been incredible, and I appreciate everyone’s well wishes and very kind words,” he started.

“I’m getting through the messages, and I really appreciate when people share their story whether it’s something I said or something that they’re going through. And I’ve had some just incredible stories that have come through, and I’ve read them all.”

Timothy, who was paired with Lucinda Light in the marriage experiment, added that he is “trying to get back to everybody”.

“Look, I’m not the expert in life. Trust me, far from it,” he confessed. “I just said to somebody today, ‘We’re all on this journey together, and just try and get through it’.”

“Look, I’ll have a lot more stuff coming over the next couple of weeks. I just have a few things coming up, clearly.

“But again, just thank you. I appreciate it. We’re all not alone in this world.”

“See you later.”
