Married at First Sight Australia 2024 introduces fans to Ben Walters, the groom who was originally tapped to appear on The Bachelors.
Way back in May 2023, So Dramatic! dished that 39-year-old Ben had been telling mates he was “hand-selected” for Channel Ten’s dating show.
However, when the official cast announcement for The Bachelors‘ 11th season, the Newcastle-based tour guide was nowhere to be seen!
But as the saying goes, when one door closed, another opened, with sources telling So Dramatic! he soon “received a call from EndemolShine producers”.
“He didn’t hesitate and quickly accepted the offer for MAFS,” they said.
Insiders also claim that Ben is “desperate for his 15 minutes of fame and has been dying to get on TV”. Ah, there’s always one (or more)!
Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Ben Walters is ‘extremely picky’
According to his official Married at First Sight bio, Ben’s job as a professional traveller has made it “easy” for him to walk away from relationships when they get tricky.
His last relationship ended in 2019 and has remained single because he finds dating “exhausting”.
Ben is also extremely picky when it comes to a potential bae. He needs to be “stimulated” when coupled up and can get bored easily.
On top of this, he hates “vanilla”, though he admits he has unrealistic expectations and a fear of settling, which he hopes MAFS can change.

As all budding reality stars do, Ben has links to former Married at First Sight participants.
So Dramatic! previously uncovered that the incoming groom knows two-time TV bride Lizzie Sobinoff.

Ben also boasts thousands of fans across social media, including over 4,800 followers on TikTok.
His YouTube account, which shares travel videos, has amassed over 24,350 views.
He even has a podcast — Get Lost with a Travel Guide — which seems to be a prerequisite for MAFS stars these days!
