Married at First Sight Australia 2024 will still feature a same-sex couple after producers found a groom to replace Simon Flocco, who quit the series partway through filming.
Whilst it was previously reported that production had scrapped the same-sex storyline, Daily Mail reveals that MAFS has found an alternate groom to remarry Michael, who was left behind by his former partner.

According to the outlet, Michael will be entering the show as an intruder, alongside two other couples. An insider told Daily Mail that the pair will enter the show during a dinner party as a last-minute surprise.
Whilst cast members usually attend the intruder weddings, it’s understood that the pair are only marrying in front of their friends and family.

One insider revealed that producers were worried about the potential backlash they’d receive if they didn’t feature a same-sex couple, especially after talking up the ‘diverse’ cast.
And TBH, we’re glad the storyline has been revived, as there hasn’t been any same-sex representation since Tash Herz and Amanda Micallef in 2020.
Sources have also revealed that this last-minute shake-up has the potential to make this season one of the best ones yet. And we’ve heard this all before so we’ll believe it when we see it…
It comes after 2024 groom Tim Smith reportedly QUIT the show, after leaked footage obtained by Yahoo! Lifestyle showed the real estate agent storming out of his apartment at Sydney’s Skye Suites last week.
