Married at First Sight Australia 2020‘s Hayley Vernon has slammed Woolworths after the supermarket announced that it’d no longer sell Australia Day merch.

Ahead of the public holiday on January 26, Woolworths Group revealed its decision not to stock Australia Day paraphernalia, with a spokesperson claiming there had been “a gradual decline in demand… over recent years”.

On January 14, Hayley took to Instagram to rant over the supermarket’s choice to not sell items related to the national holiday.

“Why is Woolworths boycotting Australia Day? Thank god I don’t shop with them anyway,” the OnlyFans model started.

“Now I know to some, this is going to be controversial. But at what point do we stop having to apologise for the wrongdoings of people many generations before us?”

The former TV bride then explained that a woman who lived in her building “apologised” after suggesting to throw an Australia Day barbecue in fears that she’d be “attacked” for offending tenants.

MAFS‘ Hayley Vernon questions why society has become so politically correct

Hayley continued by questioning why society had become so politically correct.

“Child care centres are saying happy holidays as not to offend people who don’t celebrate Christmas. Yet Christmas the holiday is just that — a holiday celebrating Christ,” she added.

And can somebody tell her diversity exists?

She also called out confectionary brand Allen’s for rebranding their products that formerly had politically insensitive names.

“There’s no Redskins anymore or Chico babies. I can’t actually remember what they have renamed them to, but [for f*ck sake] stop with all of this,” she finished.

Australia Day, observed on January 26, celebrates the landing of the First Fleet and the raising of the Union Flag by Arthur Phillip at Sydney Cove in 1788.

However, the Indigenous community considers this day as “Invasion Day” as it represents the British occupation of Aboriginal land. Many have called for the date to be changed or the holiday to be scrapped completely.
