A talent manager has weighed in on why the majority of Married at First Sight Australia 2023 participants are losing followers en masse.

Nearly a year after the MAFS 2023 cast said “I do” on national telly, it seems fans are no longer buying into their fifteen minutes of fame.

Per Yahoo! Lifestyle, social media analytics from Social Blade have revealed a small percentage of stars are gaining new fans.

In the last 30 days, it appears that Melinda Willis has lost 2,820 followers, Claire Nomarhas waved goodbye to 2,280, Jesse Burford has lost 1,530 and Layton Mills has lost 540.

Even fan faves Ollie Skelton and Tahnee Cook are on the decline, though on a much smaller scale.

A talent agent from an influencer agency told the outlet that the simple reason for the follower loss is because “the public gets bored and moves on quickly”.

“It’s nothing personal,” they explain. “Once the hype surrounding the show ends, people gradually unfollow as they don’t want another influencer in their feed producing the exact same content as every other influencer.

“If you want to consistently grow your following, you have to find a niche or be more original with your content.”

They added that agencies are hesitant to take on MAFS stars as clients because “they just don’t make money”.

Which Married at First Sight stars are still on the rise?

Duncan James and girlfriend Evelyn Ellis are two of the only MAFS 2023 stars still on the rise on social media.

Since debuting their romance in May, the duo has been solidifying their brand as a couple with sponcon and relatable reels.
