The Big Brother Australia 2023 contestants reportedly had “no idea” that the raunchy Uncut spin-off was returning until it was announced to the public.

ICYMI: Big Brother Uncut is the modern-day version of Big Brother Up Late. It aired all the full-frontal nudity, saucy make-outs and contestant sex they couldn’t broadcast during the family-friendly timeslot.

The spin-off returned this year for the first time since being axed in 2007. However, it wasn’t green-lit until after the current season was filmed.

One insider spilled the tea in episode 326 of the So Dramatic! podcast.

“Contestants only found out that Big Brother Uncut was returning when the public did,” they told host Megan Pustetto.

“They had no idea about it until then and hadn’t been asked for permission to air X-Rated clips of themselves before filming.”

They added: “The Uncut version was only green-lit seven months after production had wrapped.”

A second source confirmed this, adding that Seven recently asked contestants for approval to air their NSFW content.

“All contestants were called and shown footage producers were planning to use of them for the Uncut version and asked for approval,” they explained.

“Only some agreed and that’s why you will see not everyone’s bits and pieces and their racier scenes featured in the Uncut show.”

Big Brother 2023 contestants address Big Brother Uncut claims

So Dramatic! contacted several Big Brother 2023 contestants about the claims for further clarity surrounding Uncut.

“We didn’t know about it [beforehand] but I didn’t mind when I heard they were doing it,” one star said.

“I didn’t do anything too raunchy that I wouldn’t want them to air so it didn’t bother me.”

Another said they “assumed” an uncensored version of the show was happening when they were told the show’s “rating was MA15+”.

“Our initial contracts did ask us if we would be happy with them airing nude scenes,” they revealed. “There were lots of in-depth clauses about nudity so I kind of went in there expecting that stuff.

“It was kind of a given.”

A spokesperson for Seven also provided a statement to So Dramatic!, alleging the Big Brother housemates “were made aware that an uncensored program was being made for 7plus before entering the Big Brother house”.
