SAS Australia 2023‘s Tim Robards has opened up about the health battle he’s been dealing with behind closed doors.

He may appear unbreakable following his gruelling stint on the Special Forces course in Jordan, but the 40-year-old The Bachelor Australia 2013 star admits that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“I’ve actually had some pretty horrific injuries and some chronic stuff,” Tim recently told The Daily Telegraph.

He went on to reveal that he battled a spinal infection prior to filming SAS Australia 2023.

“My back is screwed, and just before going on the show, I went through three months of double-strength antibiotic treatment for a suspected spinal infection,” he said.

The chronic pain also impacted his ability to be there for his daughter, Elle, whom he shared with Anna Heinrich.

“I struggle to bend down and pick up Elle’s stuff off the ground,” Tim explained.

“I struggle to bend down and give her a hug. It is hard work.”

Despite his physical pain leading up to the Special Forces course, Tim was just one of two celebrity recruits to pass the selection process, alongside Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham.

After passing, Tim said: “I’m so happy. It’s shown what strength I’ve got inside. I probably doubted that a lot.”

“It was hard work. So many times you just want to stop, and you want to quit, and you’ve just gotta keep pushing and pushing.”

And push, he did!
