SAS Australia 2023 star and convicted drug smuggler ‘Cocaine Cassie’ Sainsbury is rumoured to be the “highest paid” cast member this season.
According to New Idea, most of the contestants on the upcoming series will be pocketing a cool $30,000 for their efforts on the show.
The controversial figure has been “struggling to find work”. And it seems Channel Seven wanted to help her out, as an insider told the magazine that Cassie was offered close to six figures to appear on the show.
“Her CV isn’t for everyone,” they joked. And they got that right!
Why was SAS Australia 2023’s Cassie Sainsbury convicted?
According to The Herald Sun, Cassie was caught attempting to smuggle 5.8kg of cocaine out of Columbia inside 18 headphone boxes in April 2017.
Despite being sentenced to six years in Bogota Prison in Columbia, she was released in April 2020 to spend the remainder of her sentence on parole, Mamamia reports.
She was also rumoured to be selling nudes on OnlyFans whilst on parole in 2020, according to The Advertiser.
In September 2022, she returned to Australia for the first time in five years and it seems she’ll be going straight to reality TV stardom.
Seven is renowned for casting controversial recruits, as SAS has seen the likes of convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby and Bra Boy Koby Abberton in the past. So it seems Cassie fits the bill!
What else do we know about SAS Australia 2023‘s Cassie Sainsbury?
Before landing herself behind bars, the 27-year-old dreamed of opening up her own gym.
According to the Herald Sun, she’d been running a personal training business from home, but it got “too big”, so she decided to fulfil her dream and start a proper gym.
However, after six months, she closed up shop.
Cassie is also booed up, as she tied the knot with computer technician Tatiana in March 2022.
“One of the best days of my life,” she wrote over an Instagram Reel of her wedding day.
“Marrying my best friend was a dream come true. She’s my world.”
