Love Island Australia 2018‘s Teddy Briggs has been outed for running an online scam after several of his clients spoke out about their negative experiences.

The reality star has been accused of selling his lavish lifestyle to his followers through his e-commerce business, EcomConnect, which aims to build online stores for clients.

“At EcomConnect we build the whole business for you. [It’s] guaranteed to work. Start making sales right now,” the former Islander told his followers.

However, it seems his shiny promises were far from reality, as Yeri Guy and her partner, who paid Teddy $10,000 to build their online store, shared their horror story.

According to Yeri, the website she purchased from Teddy was “abysmal”.

“It had no currency converter, no terms and conditions, no shipping policy, no videos. The content… had spelling and grammatical errors all throughout,” she explained during the August 20 episode of A Current Affair.

Despite confessing that the website wasn’t up to standard, Teddy never offered a refund.

“What [Teddy] delivered was never going to do anything that [he] promised it would do,” Yeri said. “Give all of us our money back.”

Yeri wasn’t the only disappointed customer, as out of the 46 clients who spoke to A Current Affair, most of them claimed to have asked Teddy for a refund.

“We asked again for a refund. So that was three individual emails [and] text messages….that went unanswered. He basically ghosted [us],” Yeri continued.

“I think he’s so arrogant and so lost in his own world that the effect that this is having on people just doesn’t register.”

In March, people also took to Reddit to share their experiences with EcomConnect, branding Teddy the “Gold Coast Scammer”.

“I bought some store package from Teddy Briggs on Instagram… [we spoke in the phone] and he made me send him $15,000,” one user wrote.

“He was very aggressive and forceful and made me feel like I had to pay him. I regret it and don’t know what to do. He isn’t answering my messages, texts or calls and has scammed me.”

In the comments section, another person shared a similar story, claiming that they paid Teddy $10,000 for an online store. However, the store they received was a “totally different product” to what Teddy promised.

“I immediately asked for a refund and [EcomConnect] kept avoiding my question. Stay the hell away,” they warned others.

How has Teddy Briggs responded to the controversy?

Since facing the negative claims about his business, Teddy appears to have temporarily deactivated his social media accounts.

When he was approached for answers, he also told A Current Affair’s Steve Marshall to “f*ck off”.

As reported by A Current Affair, he’s relocated from the Gold Coast property he was last seen at. And, according to his neighbours, he plans on moving to Europe with his girlfriend.
