The Bachelor Australia’s Keira Maguire has admitted to assaulting a woman with a glass at a Melbourne bar.

The reality star appeared via video link at Melbourne Magistrates Court on August 3, where she admitted to one count of recklessly causing injury.

The 37-year-old will not receive a criminal record and was not required to enter a plea of guilty after Magistrate Olivia Trumble granted a diversion.

The court heard that the reality star, who appeared on Richie Strahan‘s season of the dating show in 2016, was with friends at a bar when a “heated” confrontation occurred after another woman made “antagonistic” comments towards Keira.

Her defence lawyer, Zarah Garde-Wilson, explained that the thrown glass did not break and the victim only received “small scratches”.

“It was a very heated moment between the two of them,” she said, reports the Herald Sun. “She happened to have a glass in her hand at the time it was occurring.

“[Keira] acknowledges that she should have just walked away. She’s extremely embarrassed and this is entirely out of character for her.”

What happens next for Keira Maguire?

On the recommendation of the police, magistrate Olivia Trumble placed Keira on a diversion plan.

This means she’s required to write the victim a letter of apology and maintain “good behaviour”.

If she upholds these conditions for six months, her charge will be dismissed with no finding of guilt.

“This is an acceptance of responsibility by you of your conduct,” the magistrate told Keira.

“It is an opportunity for you to avoid any criminal record in respect of this matter.”

Ms Trumble also denied the release of any charges or police summary regarding the assault, meaning the date and location of the assault remain unconfirmed.

However, The Herald Sun previously reported that the incident occurred in March at the Osborne Rooftop and Bar in the suburb of South Yarra.

Following the reports, former Love Island star Anna McEvoy claimed she was at the bar when the alleged incident took place.

“I didn’t see it happen but I was very much there,” she said on her Where’s Your Head At? podcast, describing it as “wild and unhinged”.

She added: “I saw the aftermath and I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it happened, to be honest.”
