Love Island Australia 2018‘s Shelby Bilby has laughed while revealing that her mother once ran over two dogs.

The 29-year-old took to her Instagram Story on June 23 to show her followers how well-trained her rottweiler, Sunny, is.

Shelby, who appeared on the inaugural season of the Aussie Love Island, said her dog is trained to sit in the garage and is only permitted to leave once he hears the word “free”.

“She’s going to hate me for bringing it up… but that’s why I taught him this.”

Daily Mail Australia said they contacted Shelby for further comment, to which she replied: “Hahaha. That’s my comment.”

She then screenshotted the message and posted it to her Instagram Story.

“I hate animals and laugh at killing dogs,” she sarcastically wrote. “Come take my dog away from me RSPCA and give it to someone who actually cares for their dog.

“Sunny has such a hard life & I would laugh if he died because I hate animals.”

Other Love Island Australia stars face backlash for controversial comments

Shelby isn’t the only Love Island Australia star to face backlash in recent months for controversial comments.

In March, contestant Maddy Gilbanks sparked outrage after sharing her spicy opinion of OnlyFans, in which she slammed female sex workers.

During a Q&A session on Instagram, the 2022 Islander was asked if she would ever sign up for the adults-only subscription service.

Her answer shocked fans when she implied women creating OnlyFans content were responsible for men cheating, “especially when he is surrounded by temptation”.

Prior to this, in January, Erin Barnett copped criticism when she said her New Year’s resolution was to lose five kilos.

“Woah love your stuff but this is a bit damaging,” one fan described the post at the time.
