Not everyone seems to be in favour of Channel 10’s bid to win viewers back after the network announced two reality shows cast with celebrities.

Yep, rival networks are reportedly calling the once-titan corporation “embarrassing” as it cast a number of well-known faces from other networks in an attempt to “save” its plummeting ratings, after a string of bad moves.

Remember The Real Love Boat Australia? Yeah, neither do we…

ICYMI: In May, it was revealed Ten had commissioned a second season of The Traitors, despite it only raking in 243,000 viewers last year.

However, this year’s version will have a twist — mixing everyday Aussies with “celebs”, which include Below Deck‘s Hannah Ferrier and former My Kitchen Rules star Ash Pollard.

Actor Gyton Grantley and social media influencer Ian Zaro are also signed on.

Similarly, a celebrity edition of The Amazing Race Australia was announced in early June in a bid to boost ratings from its 332,000 views in 2022.

Alongside Olympian and SAS Australia fave Jana Pittman, the show will feature multiple I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! campmates, plus former Yellow Wiggle, Emma Watkins.

TV insiders reveal rival networks’ thoughts about Channel 10’s celebrity twists

One insider told Yahoo! Lifestyle that Channel 10’s celebrity twists have been the talk of the TV circuit.

“People are saying it’s embarrassing how they’re reliant on names from other shows and networks to try bring in viewers and save the ratings,” they explained.

“It’s like they can’t produce their own stars anymore so they’re taking others or recycling ones from I’m A Celeb.

They did note, however, that celeb-heavy shows aren’t always the key to a ratings bonanza, given how poorly The Challenge Australia went last year.

The show, which was littered with stars from The Bachelor franchise and Married at First Sight, hit a season-low of just 136k city metro viewers.

Ay, ay, ay! Good luck, Channel 10!
