The Bachelor Australia 2017’s Matty J Johnson and Laura Byrne are married!
The reality TV alums tied the knot on November 11 in a STUNNING ceremony surrounded by loved ones, their two daughters Marli-Mae, three, and Lola, one, as well as their three-legged dog Buster.
After multiple COVID delays, the pair took to Instagram to announce the news with some snaps from their day.
“Mr and Mrs Johnson 🥳,” they caption the carousel. “Just the happiest day of our lives.”
Laura wore a stunning off-the-rack $8,000 gown by Kyha Studios, while Matty cut a handsome figure in a custom MJ Bale suit. Meanwhile, their cute AF daughters wore matching dresses by Princess Boutique.
Matty J’s Vows Were Filled With Love and Humour
According to the Daily Mail, the couple wed at Cupitt’s Estate near Mollymook at 3.30 pm on Friday, with Matty and Laura delivering some heartfelt and funny vows they had written themselves.
Forever the jokester, Matty called Laura his “perfect” woman while adding that she’d “finally managed to lock him down”.
“It would be near impossible to put into words what you mean to me and our beautiful daughters,” he said.
“Before we met, I remember having a conversation about what my perfect woman would be like. I wanted her to be ambitious so that no dream was ever out of reach and driven enough to turn that dream into a reality.
“To be understanding so that I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to confide in her, affectionate so our kids always felt loved, and with a wicked sense of humour so any situation would always be entertaining.
“I also wanted her to have a great rack and earn more money than me!” HA!!
The former marketing manager — who joked that he had to “work his way through 24 women” to get to Laura — revealed that he knew her was The One the moment they met.
“The moment we first met, ‘I thought, “Holy sh*t. Here she is.’ I was determined to get you pregnant as soon as possible. And as luck would have it, you felt the same way.”
Laura Byrne Was Overcome with Emotion as She Read Her Vows
Similarly, Laura spoke about meeting on the hit show but was overcome with emotion after telling Matty how much she loved him.
“The life that you and I are building together is more than I ever could have dreamed of. I promise to love you when life seems easy and when it seems hard. When our love is simple, and when it is an effort, I promise to ride the Bronte train with you when you’re too embarrassed.”
“I promise to always put our family and you first, to ask how your day was, and to always care about the answer, I promise to fill our house with laughter and fun and silliness and happiness, and I promise to tell you that I love you daily and show you.”
She continued: “I promise to always give you a kiss goodnight and a bit extra if I’m not too tired, you know, to keep the spark alive!” LOL!

Laura and Britt’s radio anchor Mitch Churi shared some insights from the reception, including his gorge personalised menu and a video of the wedded couple’s insane choreographed dance — a nod to Matty’s time on Dancing with the Stars.
By this point, Laura had changed into a cream singlet top and some KILLER gold sequinned pants.
Mitch also shared a pic of himself with his Life Uncut work family, which includes The Challenge’s Britt Hockley.
Bachelor Alum Flooded the Comments Section With Well-Wishes
Taking to the comments section, reality stars and fans flooded the couple with well-wishes.
“Best. Day. Avarrrrr [sic],” Britt wrote, while former Bachelorette Angie Kent said: “😍❤️ magical!!!!!!!!! Congratulations beautiful people x”.
Host of the Bachelor franchise Osher Günsberg gave a nod to their OG meet-cute: “Hooray!! Thailand seemed like only yesterday ❤️,” while Holly Kingston — who found her own bae on the hit show said: “Amazing guys ❤️❤️❤️ congratulations!”.
Matty J Johnson and Laura Byrne’s Journey to the Altar
Laura and Matty J met during the 2017 season of The Bachelor Australia, a year after Matty was left publicly heartbroken by The Bachelorette’s Georgia Love.
While the country saw major similarities between Laura and Georgia, Matty revealed in an interview with Vogue that he couldn’t see the resemblance.
“It’s funny, I don’t see it myself. I know they’ve both got brown hair, and that’s the only similarity I see,” he told the outlet.
Matty and Laura even shared a circle of friends; however, Matty quashed rumours that he and his love had met previously.
“On our first date on the show, we talked about our circle of friends. [We said] it was weird that we hadn’t managed to get to know each other. So we spoke for the first time on the show.”

In an interview with Now to Love, Matty revealed that his “absolute dream list” would be to “have a child” with Laura.
“Coming off the back of The Bachelor, my absolute dream list of things that I would want to accomplish would be to have a really loving relationship; to be engaged, to have a child, love and be successful with work,” he said.
Making the dream a reality, the couple welcomed Marli-Mae in 2019.
Before she was born, the couple became engaged during their baby moon.
The season five Bachie alum took to their social media to announce the exciting news!
“There’s absolutely no one else I’d rather grow old and senile with. I can’t wait to start a family together, and now I can’t wait to be your husband! ❤️💍,” Matty gushed.
While Laura said: “You are my favourite everything @matthewdavidjohnson. YES to a lifetime of love and flamboyant dance moves with you my honey 💍❤️ [sic].”
Laura Byrne and Matty J Welcome Lola Ellis
On February 4, 2021, Laura announced that they had become a family of four, sharing that she and her fiancé had welcomed Lola Ellis.
“Welcome to the world my precious little Lola Ellis Johnson,” she penned the post.
“I said I would eat my own poop if you were a girl, and yet HERE YOU ARE! Already teaching me the worldly life lessons that come with being a mama – such as, just because I feel something to be true (in my waters) doesn’t mean it is and not to make promises to @matthewdavidjohnson that I 100% do not intend on keeping.
“You are perfection. You are dynamite. We love you and your 95 percentile head endlessly.”
Since then, the couple have shared some extremely relatable parenting posts and we can’t get enough!
